How invites and credits work

In short

• To invite someone for coffee you first need to be up for coffee: switch on "I'm up for coffee" in the app and you see people nearby who are up for coffee at the same time.
• You have 3 invites. Every invite you send uses 1 of them.
• Each invite comes back on its own 24 hours after you use it. There is no midnight reset.
• If an invite is declined, gets no answer or you withdraw it (close your window, accept another invite, call the meetup off yourself), it also comes back after 24 hours.
• It comes back right away if the other person closes their window or accepts another invite, calls the meetup off, doesn't show up to the meetup (when you say "… didn't come"), their account is closed, or the invite ends because of maintenance.
• Accepting an invite never uses one.

How an invite works

1. While you are up for coffee, pick the person you would like to meet on the people-nearby screen. You can open the cards of 10 people in any 24 hours (your discovery allowance); someone you saw in the last 24 hours who shows up again does not use it.
2. The app suggests a public café and suitable times based on both of your districts. You pick the café and the time and send the invite.
3. The other person has up to 20 minutes to answer. If the meeting time is close, this is shorter: the answer time closes early enough for both of you to get there.
4. The other person can accept, decline or suggest another time once (the café stays the same). If they suggest a new time, you have 10 minutes to answer.
5. Once the invite is accepted the meetup is set and a chat opens between you. The chat closes 24 hours after the meeting time.

Rules

• You can have only one sent invite open at a time.
• When you accept an invite, the other open invites of both of you end automatically.
• You cannot have two meetups less than 60 minutes apart.
• The meeting time can be 20 minutes from now at the earliest if you are in the same district, 30 minutes if you are in different districts.
• Meetups currently start between 09:00 and 21:30. If you are up for coffee late in the evening, the meetup is the next morning.
• When your invites run out the app shows when the next one comes back.

Purchases

When purchases can be made in the app, two options appear:

• Coffriend Plus (subscription): open the cards of 30 people in any 24 hours and hold 5 invites at a time; each still comes back 24 hours after you use it.
• Invite packs (3, 5 or 10 invites): used once your daily invites run out, they never expire; up to 2 pack invites can be used in any 24 hours. A pack invite goes back to the pack only in the "right away" cases above.

Safety

Meetups only happen in the public cafés suggested by the app. If you don't feel comfortable you can leave at any stage without explanation with "I don't feel comfortable". Details: Community Guidelines.
